Choral Inspirations 2
For the second volume of our Choral Inspirations project we commissioned six more composers to each write a work inspired by a ‘choral classic’. The composers are Rebecca Dale, Michael Higgins, Cecilia McDowall, Oliver Tarney, Gareth Treseder and Errollyn Wallen.
The new commissions, inspired by the music of Franck, Brahms, Lotti, Elgar, J. S. Bach and Mozart, have all been written at a suitable level for amateur choirs, without being simplistic.
As well as introducing six fantastic new works into the choral repertoire, our aim is to encourage amateur choirs to have the confidence to sing contemporary music, and the pieces that inspired them, through a series of workshops and side-by-side performances supported by our highly accomplished professional singers.
We look forward to welcoming singers from around the country to our workshops in London (17 September 2022), Chester (28 January 2023), Reading (11 March 2023), and Newcastle (20 May 2023).
